Engaging Christians in Integral Mission

Following on from the Micah Declaration on Integral Mission, we recommend the papers below to Christians wanting to go deeper, with a view to making integral mission the way of their discipleship, church or ministry.

  • Barriers to Integral Mission - This paper is a useful resource to help you and your congregation identify and address barriers to the embrace of integral mission.  These include theological barriers, cultural barriers, institutional barriers, capacity barriers, relational barriers, identity barriers and spiritual barriers. It is by understanding and listening carefully to the reasons that underlie a person’s opposition to integral mission that we can genuinely engage with their heart.

  • Influences on Local Churches - In order for local churches to embrace integral mission in their own communities and beyond we need to recognise the various relational influences upon leaders and members of the local church. This paper is designed to help national campaigns identify the key influences on local churches and local church leaders in their country so that strategies can be developed to 'influence the influencers'.

  • Development of Integral Mission - René Padilla presented this historical overview of evangelicalism at the Micah Network conference held in Oxford in 2001.

  • WEA Theological Commission: Philadelphia Statement on Evangelical Social Engagement (August 2007)
