Job Description:

To plan, research and write series of monthly reflections for prayer and education, for use on website and in email format. The reflection is sent to over 3000 recipients and should retain a sense of the global, Christian, MDG focus of Micah Challenge. It should strike a balance between prayerful reflection and a reliable educational element which can be used within public settings such as church services or seminars/lectures.

Tasks:

  • Plan topical series of reflections (eg quarterly)
  • Research and create MDG, reflection and prayer sections
  • Ensure a global mix of voices from Asia-Pac, Africa, Latin & North America and Europe as appropriate
  • Write monthly resource in 500-800 words

Preferred Skills:

This role requires a high degree of initiative and the ability to work alone and as part of a virtual team.

  • Good research skills, with high level of reliability
  • Excellent written skills
  • An understanding of Micah Challenge and its aims and objectives
  • An understanding of the global nature of Micah Challenge and how to communicate ‘globally’
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • French or Spanish language skills are desirable but not essential

This role provides an opportunity to improve research and communication skills; write for a global audience; increase knowledge of MDGs and their importance for the poor; increase knowledge of Christian NGO sector and church engagement; be part of a truly global campaign.
