Over 2,500 young people between the ages of 16 and 30 gathered in Erfurt over New Year to attend the biannual Mission-Net Congress, a meeting for young Christians from across all of Europe seeking to transform the world together.

Also in attendance were Micah Challenge campaigns from France, Germany, Switzerland and England, who hosted a stand encouraging young people to think about corruption in the extractive industries.

Participants had to shine a head-torch into a tunnel in order to find out about the campaign, emphasizing our desire to shine a light on corruption.

Over 1,600 postcards were also collected at the event, which will be handed over to MEPs in Brussels in March. This will tie in with Tearfund’s “Unearth the Truth” campaign, which is aiming to bring greater transparency into the extractive industries.

Micah Challenge also hosted 2 very popular seminars, as well as International Director Joel Edwards being one of the keynote speakers.

“Everyone was so enthusiastic,” commented Joel. “It was great to see so many young people committing themselves to campaigning about poverty issues and caring for the poor.”
