EXPOSED: Raising the Curtain
But there is a theme which keeps cropping up. It's corruption. It's alive and well here in India and even though the Indian government is formulating legislation like their Foreign Direct Investment Bill, they are finding that the system of government itself cannot cope with the demands of its own legislation. So right here in India is an amazing place for me to be as we raise the curtain on EXPOSED - our global campaign on corruption in October 2013.
But as I turned to CNN this morning we may just as well have been in Russia. The election results have ignited the first mass revolt in Russia since the 1990s as protesters came out in large numbers to accuse Mr Putin of rigging the election despite his narrow majority. And the main accusation? Corruption.
As we set off on this journey towards October 2013 it's going to take a great deal of effort. We know that the world will not be transformed the day after the campaign is over. But we're doing it because corruption is such an outrageous obstacle to poverty alleviation and human development. EXPOSED is happening because a lot of us know that it will make a difference to many people we may never meet. And we are doing it because God hates corruption and what the Old Testament calls 'dishonest scales.'
