The Role of the African Union
In a video segment of Inside Story, AlJazeera looked at the recent African Union Summit held in Kampala. In line with their course towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals, the theme of the meeting was "Maternal, Infant, and Child Helth and Development in Africa." Africa is severely lagging behind on attaining the MDGs set out for it. Overall AlJazeera's panel of guests agreed that driving the main thrust of the Summit was the feeling of the African peoples that their leaders have been failing to tackle issues on human rights, healthcare and corruption.
