MDG3: Promote gender equality and empower women

Target 1: Eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary education, preferably by 2005, and in all levels of education no later than 2015.

How does MDG 3 reflect God's heart and concern?

The Bible includes stories of many strong female characters such as Ruth, Deborah, Esther, Mary & Miriam, and has a consistent message of justice for the oppressed and disadvantaged.  Living in a male-dominated society Jesus also did not discriminate against women in his ministry (eg John 4) and Galatians 3:28 highlights the equality Jesus has bought about for believers.

Our campaigns in Argentina and Nicaragua are currently focussing on this MDG.
