Is advocacy worth the effort?
Many of us wished that Copenhagen had turned out to be a much better Christmas present for the poor...
But it failed to meet expectations. No overall steps were taken to keep us below the 2 degrees mark and the agreements which were made were not legally binding. Considering the unprecedented levels of protest, lobbying and public attention we are all likely to ask: if we can't develop the political will to do something in everybody's interest what's the point of advocacy about anything?
But in the run up to the Summit I was one of 2,000 Christians in a service planned before a UK wide Climate Change event, the Wave. And three days after they closed the curtains on Copenhagen the agenda is still dominating the headlines of our newspapers.
All the effort and frustration put into Copenhagen was right - not because we all got what we wanted but because we are pushing in the right direction.
Copenhagen is a reminder that the goodwill to all people is never without its struggles.
May your Christmas and New Year be filled with lasting hope and the joy of Christ.
